Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is the safest, quickest and
most likely to leave your skin intact.
Interest in tattooing procedures
among Americans is at an all-time high. It is
estimated that approximately 15% of Americans have
tattoos, with 36% of those aged 25-29 having at
least one tattoo. Many of these individuals express
regret over time in having this procedure done,
creating a major opportunity for physicians
interested in providing tattoo removal services.

What was I thinking
when I got this tattoo?
Unfortunately, we have all made decisions we now
regret. Technology now exists called Q-Switch Nd YAG
lasers that can obliterate tattoo pigment under the
surface of the skin. Ink is then cleared by the
body’s lymphatic system. While tattoo removal is a
safe and effective procedure, it is impossible to
predict the number of treatments that an individual
tattoo will require to resolve.

What are the other
tattoo removal options?
Laser tattoo removal is the safest, quickest and
most likely to leave your skin intact. Other
treatment options are surgical revision, chemical
peels and traditional dermabrasion. All these
methods are invasive and often result in scarring.

 |
What are the
possible side effects?
Pain is common with laser tattoo removal. We offer a
numbing cream to reduce the discomfort during
treatment.
During the procedure, it is common to experience
pin-point bleeding. This is the expected outcome.
Crusting can occur during the healing process much
like when getting the tattoo. Some redness, itching,
minimal swelling sunburn sensation are normal.
Blistering is rare but can occur and resolve.

SKINCLEAR®
Q-Switched
Nd:YAG Laser
During the process of
tattooing, tattoo pigment ("ink") is driven into the
skin and deposited within the skin's dermal layer.
Left untouched, the majority of the entrapped
pigment will remain intact indefinitely. SkinClear
selectively targets and destroys tattoo pigments
while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed and
intact. The body then eliminates the resulting
smaller tattoo ink particles via the lymphatic
system. |

What can be expected
during Laser Tattoo Removal?
Following a consultation & health advisement intake,
most patients chose to have numbing cream. For best
results, an hour absorption time is best. The size
and color of the tattoo determine the time needed
for the treatment. The LASER light requires use of
protective eyewear by both the patient and provider.
Even with numbing cream some discomfort is
experienced. After the treatment an ointment and
dressing is applied to keep the area moist and begin
the healing process.
How many treatments
are needed?
Size, color, ink, age and location of tattoo
determine the number of treatments needed to
obliterate the tattoo ink. Because the body needs
time to absorb the ink, treatments are scheduled 4
to 8 weeks apart.
