Rapid Lipo-Dissolve™
Advances in medical science have given us many choices for enhancing
physical appearance. Lets face it... we all want to look and feel our
best.
Rapid Lipo-Dissolve™
is one of the most exciting new treatments for unwanted body
fat. Lipo-Dissolve is a compounded solution that uses a substance
naturally found in our bodies. Phosphatidylcholine (PTC) has been safely
used in Europe for medical procedures since the 1950’s.
What sets Rapid Lipo-Dissolve™
apart from all the rest is the use of micro-fine injections combined
with a cold Erchonia (3LT™)
laser.
This remarkable laser uses low level energy to facilitate the delivery
of the solution into the fat cell membrane producing amazing results
with less downtime.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lipo-Dissolve?
Lipo-Dissolve is an in-office procedure that involves micro-fine
injection of a medication into an area of fat on the face and or body.
What medication is used?
Lipo-Dissolve is a compounded solution that is composed of 4 basic
ingredients: Normal saline, Phosphotidylcholine (PTC), Pentoxifylline,
and vitamins.
How does the medication work?
PTC, a naturally occurring substance in our bodies,
is the primary active agent in Rapid Lipo-Dissolve™.
Injections are given at a higher concentration directly into a fatty
area. The target is the fat cell membrane. PTC causes “lysis” or rupture
of the fat cell wall spilling fatty acids into the treated area. This is
the cause of post procedure swelling. Pentoxifillin is a diffusing agent
that facilitates the action of PTC. The body will then send
mediators into the area to transport the fatty acids into the lymphatic
system. The fat is then passed from the body through urine and feces.
The vitamins are thought to help the lymphatic system work more
effectively.
How much of the body can be done at one time?
Lipo-Dissolve can be safely injected into one body area at each session
using a maximum of 100ml of the compounded solution. Of course, balance
is key and if treating two sides of the body, a 50/50 formula is used.
What has to be done before the procedure?
Pretreatment instruction are reviewed during each new patient session.
A limited history and physical exam along with a diet and exercise
history are reviewed with each patient. Specifically, patients are given
nutritional suggestions to aide recovery and maximize results.
What results can be
expected?
As a general rule, any treated area can be reduced by one to two inches
for every treatment. Some patients can lose more. This variability is
due to individual responses to the medication as well as the type of fat
being treated. Lipo-Dissolve works very well on soft fat where as
fibrous fat is more difficult treat.
What are the side
effects?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising and soreness which
peak in about 48 hours. Rapid Lipo-Dissolve™
is an advanced method of Lipo-Dissolve that combined laser therapy to
reduce these symptoms. Also, specific instruction regarding
dietary supplements lessen the side effects as well. While not
common, it is also normal to experience dizziness and mild systemic side
effects. These are transient in nature and resolve quickly.
Our pre-procedure consultation provides an opportunity to review
practical approaches to manage your recovery with minimal downtime.
Is Lipo-Dissolve safe for everyone?
Patients that are pregnant, breast-feeding, have cancer or have had
chemo or radiation within 6 months, have AIDS, are allergic to eggs or
soy, are insulin dependant diabetics, have poorly controlled
hypertension , or who are on blood-thinners are not candidates for Rapid
Lipo-Dissolve™.
How many treatments will it take?
Generally, the average is 1-3 treatments. Again, the factors that
influence this are the amount of fat, the type of fat, and the diet and
exercise habits of the individual.
How is Lipo-Dissolve
different from Lipo-Suction?
Lipo-Dissolve is a non-invasive, non-surgical method of fat reduction.
Like Lipo-Suction, fat cells that are destroyed do not return but eating
poorly and lack of exercise will allow existing fat cells to
proliferate. Lipo-Dissolve does not require general anesthesia, there is
no surgical recovery or hard to follow post surgical instruction.
