            Laser Aesthetics

The Laser Hair Removal Procedure
Laser hair removal is performed in a physician's office or laser hair treatment facility. Depending upon the extent of the treatment, time in treatment ranges from one hour to several hours. Keep in mind that multiple sessions may be necessary.

A numbing lotion will first be applied to the targeted area. During the procedure, a laser is used to dispense a fine intense beam of heated light that removes the hair follicles, but preserves the skin in the surrounding area. Unlike electrolysis, which requires the removal of each hair follicle, the laser scans a wide area of the body in the removal process.

Aftercare
Patients return home immediately following the treatment. Normal activities can be resumed immediately; however, exercise, Jacuzzi use, and sun tanning are not recommended for at least 24 hours. No waxing or depilatory creams can be used after laser hair removal.

Laser Spot Removal

Your face, hands and arms are the first parts of the body to show signs of aging because they receive so much exposure. Sunlight, the elements and the natural aging process all contribute to the development of dark spots and freckles. Age spots and freckles are forms of pigmented lesions. They are caused by excess production of melanin in the skin. Melanocytes are the cells that manufacture melanin (the dark pigment in skin). Most of us have some form of pigmented lesion.

While spots and freckles may not be medical emergencies, many of our patients like to have them removed. Fortunately, our advanced medical lasers enable us to remove these distractions safely, easily and effectively.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Unfortunately, we have all made decisions we now regret. Technology now exists called Q-Switch Nd YAG lasers that can obliterate tattoo pigment under the surface of the skin. Ink is then cleared by the body’s lymphatic system.  While tattoo removal is a safe and effective procedure, it is impossible to predict the number of treatments that an individual tattoo will require to resolve.

Renaissance Wellness uses the following Lasers

Erbium Laser Resurfacing

Erbium laser resurfacing is designed to remove superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face hands, neck, or chest. One of the benefits of erbium laser resurfacing is minimal burning of surrounding tissue. This laser causes minimal side effects, such as swelling, bruising and redness.

What Can Be Expected During Laser Resurfacing?

Erbium laser resurfacing is performed on an outpatient basis, using local anesthesia (pain relief at the site of the procedure).

Wrinkles around the eyes, mouth or forehead may be treated individually, or a full-face laserabrasion may be performed.

SKINCLEAR®  Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser

Tattoo Removal

During the process of tattooing, tattoo pigment ("ink") is driven into the skin and deposited within the skin's dermal layer. Left untouched, the majority of the entrapped pigment will remain intact indefinitely. SkinClear selectively targets and destroys tattoo pigments while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed and intact. The body then eliminates the resulting smaller tattoo ink particles via the lymphatic system.

Pigmented Lesions

A vast majority of individuals have some type of pigmented lesions. Some are born with prominent pigmented lesions, birthmarks, café-au-lait spots, or freckles, which can be cosmetically troublesome if on the face, neck or other visible area. Other lesions develop over time. Age spots (solar lentigines) can be cosmetically bothersome. Most adults develop them over years of sun exposure. Women also acquire unwanted pigmented lesions due to hormonal changes.
